Celebrating 20 Years of Ministry with Rev. Emily Bowen-Marler

Brentwood family and friends, we are excited to celebrate Emily’s twenty years of ministry at Brentwood this Sunday, Sept. 26, at 10:00 a.m.

Emily has meant so much to so many for so long, and we want to express our appreciation to her. We will present her with a gift from the church on Sunday during worship, and an outdoor reception in her honor will take place immediately after the worship service (we encourage you to bring a lawn chair for the reception).

Here’s how you can be involved:

  • Bring a card that expresses your appreciation to Emily. For those who are able, we are encouraging you to bring a suggested gift of $20 or more along with your card, representing one dollar for each year that she has been in ministry at Brentwood. All of the gifts (cash or check) will be collected in a separate basket, and one check from the church will be written to Emily (this gives you the option to make your gift anonymously if you desire, separate from your card). Collectively, this will make for a gracious honorarium of appreciation given to her by participants in our church. If you aren’t able to attend this Sunday, you can mail your cards and gifts to the church (1900 E. Barataria, Springfield MO 65804).
  • We are also encouraging people to honor Emily by making a suggested donation of at least $20 to the Springfield Cooperative Cold Weather Shelter fundraiser, which raises money to provide much-needed shelter during the winter months for those experiencing homelessness. This work is very close to the heart and ministry of Emily, and represents a way you can honor her ministry by giving toward something that is incredibly important to her. We look forward to seeing you this Sunday, Sept. 26, at 10:00 a.m., as we celebrate Emily’s twenty years of ministry at Brentwood!
