As all of us adapt to changing circumstances, including worshiping exclusively online, we are learning what it means to be the church in times such as these.
Even though things are different, we are still the body of Christ, committed to building community, justice and love.
In that spirit, we’ve revised and updated our upcoming community life ministries and programs. As you’ll see, some of our previously scheduled events have moved online and some are new altogether, specially tailored to meet the needs of being church in these days. As a reminder, no in person events are taking place at Brentwood until further notice.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out (417-881-0144 or email@example.com). You can also subscribe to our email list to keep up with our most current announcements.
Here at Brentwood, we believe that Christ’s love transcends all boundaries — including those of social distancing. 🙂 So let’s be the church, together.
One of the most important things we can do is care for the most vulnerable members of our church community. As such, our leaders are regularly contacting and checking in with those in our church family who are considered part of the “high risk” group. At the same time, we’re organizing a team of volunteers to shop and run essential errands for those in need. If you would like to be a volunteer shopper, please visit our sign-up genius. If you need assistance with shopping or errands, please reach out to the church staff (417-881-0144 or firstname.lastname@example.org). It’s an important time for us to be church together.

Sack lunches for our unsheltered (and hungry) neighbors
Access to food is all the more challenging for our food insecure neighbors in Springfield. Brentwood is partnering with our friends at The Connecting Grounds to provide 100 sack lunches this month. Please contact the church office to volunteer (417-881-0144 or firstname.lastname@example.org). Thanks in advance!

Faith, Films & the Search for Meaning
Now that most of us are spending more time at home, it’s likely that there’s more time to stream movies on Netflix! With that in mind, on Wednesday evenings beginning March 25th, we’ll gather on Zoom from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to share in conversation about a movie that we will have all watched earlier in the week.
Here’s how it works: We’ll compile a list of films to watch — all available to stream on Netflix — and we will watch one a week, then talk about its meaning and significance for faith and life. Be on the lookout for the list of movies (and feel free to share some of your favorites with Phil and Emily)!
Zoom credentials will be announced soon (and if we’re lucky, maybe Baby Dietrich will join us for a Zoom!)
March Madness at Brentwood!
Who says March Madness is canceled? Not us! As a way to facilitate online fun and fellowship, we are putting a Kahoot! tournament together, and we will crown our first champion! Basically this is a fun version of an online trivia tournament; we will determine how many rounds we play based on how many participants we have. Questions will cover a wide range of subjects, including questions about Springfield and – – gasp!! — the Bible! Sign up here and be on the lookout for more information! Who do you think will be crowned Kahoot! champion at Brentwood?
