Disciples Church Shelter in Houston Area Needs Your Help Right Now

Makeshift shelter at Kingwood Christian Church, just north of Houston

As we all know, Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey has brought devastation to Houston and many have lost their homes in its wake. Kingwood Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), just north of Houston, has become a shelter for those displaced in their community and they are in need of many supplies in order to help those who are now seeking shelter at the church (they were the first church in their community to open their doors to those displaced by the storm).

Let’s show our fellow Disciples in Texas that we care about them and that we’re grateful for their willingness to do the work of Christ in and among those in the greater Houston area.

Brentwood is having a fund drive to help them purchase supplies. They can barely keep up with all of the needs they’re responding to and they need your help right now.

To donate directly to the shelter at Kingwood Christian Church, send a text to 417-283-8175 and include in your message the chosen amount of money you would like to donate without using the dollar sign, followed by “Houston” (see the picture below for an example of how to immediately donate $75). If donating by check, please make it out to Brentwood Christian Church and write “Disciples Shelter Houston” in the memo line. All funds will be sent directly to the Kingwood Christian Church shelter.

Thank you in advance for being the hands and feet of Christ in this world — and in Texas right now.
