[Update: Thanks to the generosity of those from Brentwood Christian Church, we were able to raise over $1000 in pledges for this event. And for the record, Ethan and Phil did make it to 1001 throws!]
This Wednesday, August 7, Phil Snider, the senior minister of Brentwood Christian Church, will be joining author and activist Ethan Bryan, who is trying to call attention to the modern-day slave trade by setting up a number of fundraisers around the United States. Here’s how this simple fundraiser at Brentwood will work:
- On August 7 at 7pm, Phil and Ethan are attempting a world record: “The Fastest 1,001 Throws”
- They are seeking 50 sponsors to support at least one penny per throw
- All the money raised will go directly to Not For Sale‘s work in Romania
If you want to be a sponsor, please contact Phil by email (philsnider at gmail dot com) or at the church office. And feel free to bring your own ball and glove to play catch with others while Phil and Ethan try to set the world record!
Not for Sale is a non-profit dedicated to ending human trafficking and modern-day slavery, with the simple mission to “create a world where no one is for sale.”

Slavery is wrapped up in almost every industry’s supply chain, tainting the food we eat, the clothes we buy and the electronics we love. [continue reading here]
As you can imagine, Not For Sale relies on donations from individuals and organizations to make a difference in this world. That’s why we’re counting on you to help.
